The legend of Sant Jordi with ICT

St. George's Day is one of the best days of the year! Everyone is happy, the streets are full of stalls with books and roses, thus creating a magical and full of culture atmosphere!

It is also an important day for schools. Usually, literary contests, book exchanges, handicrafts, etc. are held. In Blanes, it is also a tradition to hold the Sant Jordi mural competition, in which all the schools in the village take part. In groups of 4 or 5, they have to prepare a sketch with a well-seen drawing, and then, on the day of the competition, paint it on the mural. It is a day full of emotions and fun, where the seafront promenade becomes an exhibition museum of all the works of art made by children.

Surfing the internet, I came across a school that a few years ago, with P5 students made their own version of the legend of St. George. I found it super interesting and different because the students themselves, using the Tablet, had to photograph the sequences, record the voice and finally, edit it all together.

The Betúlia school, located in Badalona, ​​has shared on its website the process of creating the legend, attaching photos and explanations. According to the school teachers, "it's a very fun activity and above all it has made them prepare, reflect and work creatively as a team !!!"

It is an exciting proposal, where children enjoy, think and create. Encourages teamwork and group cohesion. It is very important that from an early age, they learn to work together, to consider their classmates and, above all, to understand that together they can make great creations.

Another proposal would be to create, with primary school students, the legend of Sant Jordi in Scratch. Also, record it in a play format, where the performers were the students, and share it on the center's website so that all parents and teachers can see it from home!
